Bonne promenade le long du lac, il fait assez beau et doux, et petit-déjeuner dans un café. Nous prenons des scones, très british.
Nous partons vers 11 h, Jens et moi, pour Tacoma visiter Laila et Thorsten et les ramener à Seattle avec nous. Steve et Linda les ont invités à diner et passer la nuit chez eux. C’est l’anniversaire de Laila aujourd’hui. Ensemble nous faisons un circuit en voiture. Nous nous arrêtons pour faire une promenade dans la réserve naturelle de Nisqually, réserve d’oiseaux surtout aquatiques dans une zone de marécages près de la mer. Nous voyons un épervier, des oies du Canada, un héron, et d’autres oiseaux. Puis nous continuons en voiture et déjeunons dans un restaurant mexicain dans une petite ville, Shelton. Cette petite ville est au fond d’un fjord et le port est plein de troncs d’arbres prêts à être exportés. Une locomotive et un wagon de troncs d’arbre ornent la place ainsi qu’une statue d’un bucheron. Nous nous perdons un peu après mais c’est une chance, dans un sens. La petite route que nous prenons longe le fjord et est bien plus agréable que la grande route que nous aurions du prendre. A 5 h 30 nous prenons un ferry à Bremerton qui nous ramène en une heure à Seattle. La vue de nuit des gratte-ciels de Seattle tout éclairés est magnifique. Nous arrivons à 7 h chez Steve et Linda juste à temps pour l’excellent diner que Steve nous a préparé. Un autre couple d’amis est invité et nous passons une très bonne soirée.
Nice walk along the lake, the weather is quite beautiful and mild, and breakfast in a cafe. We eat scones, very British. We leave at around 11am, Jens and me to visit Laila and Thorsten in Tacoma and take them back to Seattle with us. Steve and Linda have invited them to dinner to night and to spend the night too. This is Laila's birthday today. Together we drive a tour. We stop to walk through a nature reserve, Nisqually, to see birds, especially aquatic birds in a marshy area near the sea. We see a hawk, Canada geese, a heron and several other birds. Then we continue by car and have lunch at a Mexican restaurant in a small town, Shelton. This small town is at the bottom of a fjord and the harbor is full of logs ready for export. A locomotive and a wagon of logs decorate the square and a statue of a lumberjack too. We get lost a little after but this is a chance, in a way. The small road that we take along the fjord is much nicer than the big road we should have taken. At 5:30 pm we take a ferry from Bremerton back to Seattle. It takes one hour. The night view of lit skyscrapers in Seattle seen from the sea is beautiful. We arrive at 7:00 pm at Steve and Linda’s house, just in time for the excellent dinner that Steve has prepared for us. Another couple of friends are invited and we spend a very great evening.
