La chambre dans l’hôtel est très calme et assez fraiche. Nous dormons bien.
Petit-déjeuner à 8 h.
Jens part à l’Université, la publique, c’est à une demi-heure de marche.
Moi je reste à l’hôtel pour écrire le blog, puis je vais faire un tour dans le quartier.
Camilo, le fils de Miguel et Gloria que nous avons vus à Mexico, est marié à une Chilienne et travaille ici. Il est prof dans une Université privée. Il a invité Jens à donner un speech aujourd’hui dans cette Université. C’est un peu en dehors de la ville et il envoie un taxi pour nous chercher à 1 h 10.
Jens rentre à midi. Il a vu des gens qu’il connait et en particulier, Carlos.
Nous allons déjeuner d’un sandwich dans un snack pour étudiants à 100 m de l’hôtel. Nous prenons poulet et avocat. C’est bon, mais un seul aurait suffit pour nous deux. Nous mangeons assis sur un rebord de parterre sur le trottoir et les pigeons ont droit à nos restes.
Rentrés à l’hôtel, nous attendons le taxi. 1 h 10, 1 h 20, 1 h 30 … Toujours rien. Jens téléphone à Camilo. Il va voir ce qui se passe. Mais le taxi arrive à 1 h 40.
Ça va, le speech est à 2 h 30.
Cette Université, Universidad del Desarrollo (Université du Développement, UDD) est une Université très chique. Le parking pour les étudiants est plein et pas de vieilles voitures.
Camilo est occupé, il donne un cours, donc c’est un de ses collègues, Alvaro, qui nous reçoit.
Il nous fait un peu visiter. C’est une Université moderne et qui est en pleine expansion. Les étudiants doivent payer plusieurs centaines de dollars par mois. Mais au Chili, même l’Université publique est payante.
Nous allons voir Camilo dans sa classe. Il donne un cours ouvert à toutes les disciplines (architectes, sociologues, éducateurs …) sur « Regard critique sur la technologie moderne ». Il présente Jens à ses étudiants.
Puis nous allons tous les quatre (Camilo, Alvaro, Jens et moi) dans la salle où Jens va parler. L’amphithéatre se remplit et Jens commence. Comme toujours, c’est intéressant et accessible. Quelques questions. Puis le « dean » remet un cadeau à Jens, un stylo qui fait « pointeur », pour montrer un point précis sur un écran et une lumière rouge, qui, si j’ai bien compris, permet de détecter les faux billets !
Nous allons boir un jus de fruit (mangue ou chirimoya) avec Camilo et Alvaro. Ils se sont connus en Nouvelle Zélande, l’un Mexicain et l’autre Chilien et sont très bons amis.
Et ce soir, Camilo et sa femme nous invitent à diner, ainsi qu’Alvaro et sa femme.
Camilo nous apprend que sa femme est enceinte. Ils attendent leur bébé en septembre.
Camilo nous conduit dans Santiago. Nous allons boire une bière à un café allemand avec terrasse. Puis nous allons chez lui. Il habite le quartier qui s’appelle Providencia, un quartier très agréable avec beaucoup d’arbres.
Nous faisons connaissance avec Luisa, sa femme.
Leur appartement, qu’ils louent, est grand, clair et a une belle vue sur les Andes.
Luisa nous prépare un bon diner de saumon, pommes de terre au four et salade.
Alvaro et sa femme, Agnès (d’origine belge et qui parle français), arrivent et nous passons une très agréable soirée. Alvaro et Agnès ont une petite fille de 20 mois mais qui est resté à la maison avec sa nounou. Ici, tout le monde à une nounou.
Camilo et Luisa nous ramènent en voiture à l’hôtel. Merci à eux de cette bonne soirée.

He shows us a little around. It is a modern University and is growing. Students must pay several hundred dollars a month. But in Chile, the students must pay a fee even at public University.
We go to see Camilo in his class. He teaches a course open to all disciplines (architects, sociologists, educators ...) on "A critical look at modern technology." It presents Jens to his students.
Then we go the four of us (Camilo, Alvaro, Jens and me) in the room where Jens will talk. The amphitheater is filling filled and Jens begins. As always, it is interesting and accessible. Some questions. Then the "dean" presents a gift to Jens, a pen that is a "pointer" to show a specific point on a screen and a red light, which, if I understood correctly, can detect counterfeits!
We drink fruit juice (mango or chirimoya) with Camilo and Alvaro. They met in New Zealand, one Mexican and one Chilean and are very good friends.
And tonight, Camilo and his wife invite us to dinner, and also Alvaro and his wife.
Camilo tells us that his wife is pregnant. They are expecting their baby in September.
He drives us in Santiago. We'll have a beer at a German cafe with terrace. Then we go at his place. He lives in the neighborhood called Providencia, a very nice neighborhood with many trees.
We meet Luisa, his wife.
Their apartments, (they rent it) is large, clear and has a beautiful view of the Andes.
Luisa prepares us a good dinner of salmon, baked potatoes and salad.
Alvaro and his wife, Agnes (of Belgian origin and who speaks French), arrive and we spend a very pleasant evening. Alvaro and Agnes had a 20 months old daughter but she remained at home with her nanny. Here, everyone have a nanny.
Camilo and Luisa drive us back to the hotel. Thank you to them for this very nice evening.
